Anthony Flores, DVM, PhD – Veterinarian

Dr. Anthony Flores was born in Fort Myers, but his parents moved when he was a baby. He grew up in southeastern Connecticut and graduated from the University of Connecticut College of Agriculture and Natural Resources earning a Bachelor of Science degree in pathobiology (pre-vet) in 1988. He graduated from Cornell University for veterinary school in 1994 and practiced general small animal medicine in CT. In 2006 he received his Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy with a heavy emphasis on molecular pharmacology and molecular biology. He worked in toxicology research for several years in North Carolina. He has consulted for a company working on a synthetic blood substitute for human and veterinary use. He practiced for the last three and a half years in West Virginia before joining Pets First and returning “home” to Fort Myers. Dr. Flores has a special place in his heart for Bloodhounds, having had two spanning a 20 year period. He also has a fondness for French Bulldogs which he affectionately refers to as “Stubbies.” His hobbies are road cycling and cars.

Malka Spektor, DVM – Veterinarian

Dr. Malka Spektor graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She spent some time working in companion animal practice in St. Louis, MO. She then moved down to sunny southwest Florida to do a veterinary internship at CROW, working with all kinds of native Florida wildlife. At the end of the internship, she loved the area so much, she decided to stay! She has a passion for wildlife conservation and working with a variety of species, including dogs, cats, and exotics. In her free time, she loves being outdoors in natures, dancing, and doing yoga. She lives with her wonderful husband David, and their dog, rabbit, and snake.

Sara Guillen, DVM – Veterinarian

Dr. Sara Guillen is originally from Los Angeles, California, but as a teenager moved to Northwest Arkansas. Dr. Guillen received her Bachelors Degree in Animal Science with a minor in Equine Science and Spanish at the University of Arkansas –Fayetteville. She went on to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University. Dr. Guillen joined our team for our long-standing reputation within community and for the talented doctors she gets to work and learn from. Her professional interests include preventative medicine and surgery (spay/neuters, dental, etc). Her short-term goals are to acquire skills in non-invasive diagnostics such as ultrasonography, as well as staying up to date on the latest research and medical advances to better improve her patients daily life. During her free time, she enjoys being outdoors doing activities such as hiking, kayaking, or being out by the beach. However, on rainy days, you will find her tending to her lanai garden with her rabbit, Jack, and her two cats, Pete and Grace.

Vince Mancini – Hospital Manager

Meet Vince, our Hospital Manager! Vince brings over 20 years of experience in Veterinary Medicine as a Technician and Manager. He is a native Floridian and has lived locally his entire life, which gives him a keen insight to the needs of our local pet population. His philosophy is simple: practice the highest level of veterinary medicine and provide second to none customer service. His pets include 4 retired racing Greyhounds and he is a co-founder of and previously served on the Board of Directors for a local 501c3 Greyhound Adoption Agency. In addition, Vince is one of only a handful of veterinary professionals within a 100-mile radius to be certified in the Human-Animal Bond, which aids him in maximizing the potentials of the relationship between people and their pets.
