Gulf Coast Humane Society Facebook Post:
One of GCHS’ initiatives is to educate about the dangers of the epidemic of heartworm, which infects thousands of dogs a year.

This mosquito-borne parasite is very expensive to treat once the dog is infected, one in which can lead to death if not treated. But an easy way to avoid heartworm in your beloved animal is to put them on a heartworm preventative treatment, which is administered via an inexpensive pill monthly.

Pets First Animal Hospital came up HUGE with their donation of roughly 20k parasite prevention kits to GCHS! These kits will be used to help prevent heartworm in many animals!

We thank Pet First Animal Hospital for their generosity
